Burns Equine Veterinary Service was established by Travis’s father, Dr. Stuart J. Burns, in 1997. Growing up, Travis had the opportunity of seeing the life of an equine veterinarian in Central Kentucky by riding with this father to calls and learning the importance of being an attentive clinician. Eager to follow in his father’s footsteps, Travis attended Texas A&M University and graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science in 2006. He then attended veterinary school in Manhattan, Kansas at Kansas State University. During his summers, he had the privilege of assisting Dr. Paul Thorpe, which led to his meeting Dr. John Park of Park Equine Hospital. Upon graduating in 2010, Travis joined Park Equine Hospital as an associate clinician. His time spent with Park Equine Hospital allowed him to adapt his knowledge gained from the classroom and apply it to each horse and client he encountered. After nearly eight years with Park Equine Hospital, the opportunity came for Travis to start his own practice and continue the quality equine veterinary service that his father provided.
Travis is a native of Central Kentucky and horse country. He and his wife, Lindsey, have two children and currently live in Georgetown. In any spare time he has, Travis enjoys playing basketball and staying active, following UK Basketball and Chicago Bears football, and anything bourbon related.
